Thank you for contacting UDOT. We have evaluated this intersection and found it to be operating as intended. The Light at this intersection is timed for the through traffic. The Right Turn is a Free right in that when you have the opportunity to turn right you do not need a green light to proceed. It doesn't matter if you are turning right or going straight, the green light literally lasted no more than two seconds!! It is the same every day around 4pm. The East bound light seems to stay green longer, but the west bound is way too short! And you can never turn right on a red because wither the vehicle in front of you is going straight, or waiting to turn right because they want to get in the left lane once they get onto Bangerter NB, or traffic is too heavy and too fast to turn right. I wait 2 or three light cycles almost every day, with only 5 or 6 cars ahead of me!!

This intersection is a joke for anybody trying to turn right on northbound Bangerter Hwy, especially those who are trying to access east bound Hwy 201. Besides the green light problem, traffic has to wait for cars/trucks trying to turn right to access either northbound Bangerter or westbound Hwy 201. If the traffic on Bangerter is backed up, NO ONE can turn right. There needs to be a right turn lane from 2100 south frontage rd for traffic that is accessing eastbound Hwy 201 on ramp.

This signal runs a coordinated timing plan in the evening time period. These plans prioritize flow along the major corridor to minimize the number of stops for the higher volume of vehicles. This may cause some delay for side street traffic. The detection for the Westbound direction has been modified to assist in allowing the through and the right turn the split time.
